The Terry Schiavo Case

This situation is a true American tragedy and there will be no easy or simple solution to it. What really makes me curious though is how, suddenly, all of these right wing zealots who are working so hard to protect "the sanctity" of marriage are now willing to have Terry's parent's desires supercede the wishes of her lawfully wedded husband. Let's face facts folks, all of this intolerance is a direct result of nothing but governmentally sanctioned hatred based on religious dogma that a great many Americans, including the lying president and his lying brother, feel they have the right to force on their fellow citizens- regardless of the letter of the law. There is no logic to the arguments these people use to justify their actions, whether applied to marriage laws or the right to die, just a lot of emotional fireworks and thinly veiled political threats. Perhaps it's time we more rational people pointed out to these Christian tyrants that when they or their leaders ignore the laws, change them arbitrarily or plan to alter the constitution because they don't coincide with their religious beliefs that they are no better than the drug dealers they demonize, the kid who shoots a cop or the thug who guns a judge down in his own courthouse. In fact, it's their attitudes and willingness to ignore or twist the law that leads to these more overtly violent acts. Let's hope those American's who don't want to live in a religious police state figure this out before their next election.
